Gunman Opens Fire on Dallas ICE Office in Targeted Attack
On the morning of September 24, 2025, a gunman opened fire on the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office located at 8101 North Stemmons Freeway in Dallas, Texas. The attack resulted in the death of one individual at the scene and injuries to two others, who were subsequently transported to a hospital. The shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities discovered ammunition near the suspect containing anti-ICE messages, indicating a targeted act of violence. No ICE agents were harmed during the incident.
The shooting occurred around 6:40 a.m. local time. The assailant fired from the roof of an adjacent building, suggesting a premeditated attack. The identities of the victims have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
FBI Director Kash Patel shared a photo on social media platform X, revealing that one of the suspect's unspent bullets had "ANTI-ICE" inscribed on it. "While the investigation is ongoing, an initial review of the evidence shows an ideological motive behind this attack," Patel stated. The FBI is treating the incident as an "act of targeted violence."
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem acknowledged the incident, noting multiple injuries and fatalities, and emphasized the increasing violence against ICE law enforcement. "While we donโt know motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop," Noem said.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton condemned the attack and highlighted the alarming increase in targeted attacks against ICE and law enforcement. "We will continue to do everything in our power to combat the alarming increase of targeted attacks against ICE and all law enforcement by evil, twisted individuals," Paxton stated.
This incident is the third shooting this year at a Department of Homeland Security facility in Texas. In July, the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado experienced an attack involving individuals shooting fireworks, vandalizing vehicles, and firing a gun at officers, resulting in one officer being shot. Eleven people were arrested and charged with attempted murder. In late August, a 36-year-old man was arrested after approaching the same Dallas ICE facility, claiming to have a bomb in his backpack and a "detonator" on his wrist.
The recent attack underscores a troubling trend of escalating violence targeting ICE facilities and personnel, raising concerns about the safety of law enforcement officers and detainees. As investigations continue, it is imperative to address the security challenges and broader societal implications stemming from such targeted acts of violence.
