Two Delta Air Lines Jets Collide at LaGuardia Airport, Sparking Safety Concerns

On the evening of October 1, 2025, two Delta Air Lines regional jets were involved in a low-speed collision at New York's LaGuardia Airport, resulting in minor injuries and significant aircraft damage.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:56 p.m. Eastern Time at the intersection of Taxiways M and A. The aircraft involved were Bombardier CRJ-900s operated by Endeavor Air, a Delta subsidiary. Flight 5047, arriving from Charlotte, North Carolina, was taxiing to its gate when it was struck by Flight 5155, which was preparing to depart for Roanoke, Virginia. The collision caused a shattered windshield on Flight 5047 and a torn wing on Flight 5155. One flight attendant sustained a knee injury and was transported to a hospital; no passenger injuries were reported.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), air traffic control had instructed Flight 5155 to hold short and yield to the other aircraft. The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has dispatched a team of 10 investigators to the scene, and cockpit voice recorders from both aircraft have been recovered for analysis.

Passenger William Lusk, aboard Flight 5047, recounted the moment of impact:

"The plane that had landed stopped, jerked, and jumped to the right. Everyone went dead silent. And as everyone went dead silent, the pilot calmly came on and said, 'Hey, we've been in a crash, everyone remain calm.'"

Delta Air Lines issued a statement expressing regret over the incident:

"Delta will work with all relevant authorities to review what occurred as safety of our customers and people comes before all else. We apologize to our customers for the experience."

The airline provided accommodations and rebookings for affected passengers.
