FedEx Completes Sale of FedEx Supply Chain to CMA CGM, Expanding CEVA in North America
FedEx Corp. said Wednesday it has completed the sale of FedEx Supply Chain to CMA CGM Group for an enterprise value of $1.4 billion, closing a deal that expands CEVA Logistics’ warehousing and contract-logistics network in North America while advancing FedEx’s effort to focus on its core operations.
The close matters for both companies. For CEVA, the logistics subsidiary of France-based shipping and logistics group CMA CGM, the acquisition sharply increases its North American footprint. For FedEx, the sale is another step in a broader plan to simplify its portfolio and direct resources toward businesses it sees as central to long-term growth.
FedEx announced the completed sale in an Oct. 1 press release. The companies first disclosed the transaction on July 1, when they said it was subject to customary regulatory approvals. FedEx’s latest announcement confirms the transaction has now closed.
CMA CGM said the acquired business will be integrated into CEVA Logistics. The company said FedEx Supply Chain brings nearly 10,000 team members and about 150 warehouses in North America. Combined with CEVA’s existing operations, that would expand CEVA’s North American workforce to about 20,000 employees across more than 240 locations, according to CMA CGM.
The company also said the acquisition would nearly triple CEVA’s North American contract-logistics footprint. Contract logistics generally refers to outsourced warehousing, distribution and related supply chain services that companies use to move and store goods.
FedEx said the divestiture supports its strategy to simplify its portfolio, sharpen its focus and concentrate resources where it believes it can create long-term value. Raj Subramaniam, FedEx’s president and CEO, said in the company’s release: “Today’s milestone demonstrates the continued progress we are making to execute our strategy with rigor and discipline … We are building a more focused FedEx …”
The companies also said they expect to put in place multi-year commercial agreements covering ocean freight and selected air cargo capacity. Those arrangements are expected to be phased in from the closing through 2028, linking the companies even as ownership of the supply chain unit changes hands.
The sale fits into a broader year of restructuring at FedEx. The company has been simplifying its portfolio in 2026, including the June 1 spin-off of FedEx Freight, its less-than-truckload business. The disposal of FedEx Supply Chain adds to that effort to streamline the company around fewer operations.
For CMA CGM, the deal is part of a longer push to build out end-to-end logistics services beyond ocean shipping. The Marseille, France-based group has been expanding through CEVA Logistics, which it acquired in 2019, to offer customers more warehousing, transportation and supply chain services under one umbrella.
CMA CGM Chairman and CEO Rodolphe Saadé said when the deal was announced in July that “the acquisition and partnership with FedEx represent a major step in the development of CEVA Logistics and our logistics activities in North America.”
