Google Unveils Pixel 10 Series with AI and Photography Enhancements

At its annual "Made by Google" event in New York City on August 20, 2025, Google unveiled the Pixel 10 smartphone lineup, introducing significant advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and photography. The new series comprises four models: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the foldable Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

The Pixel 10 series integrates cutting-edge AI features designed to enhance user experience. "Magic Cue" anticipates user needs by proactively accessing relevant information from the device, while "Camera Coach" offers real-time photography advice to assist users in capturing optimal shots. These features underscore Google's commitment to embedding AI deeply into its hardware ecosystem.

In a notable hardware upgrade, the base Pixel 10 model now includes a three-lens rear camera system with 5x optical zoom, a first for Google's entry-level devices. This enhancement aims to provide users with improved photographic capabilities without necessitating a move to higher-end models.

All models in the Pixel 10 series are powered by Google's Tensor G5 chip, manufactured using TSMC's 3nm process. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is rumored to be the first foldable smartphone with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, surpassing competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. This advancement positions Google as a leader in durable foldable smartphone technology.

Pricing for the Pixel 10 series starts at $799 for the base model. Pre-orders began on August 20, with devices set to ship starting August 28. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold will be available from October 9.

Despite these advancements, Google's Pixel smartphones held only 1.1% of the global smartphone market share in Q2 2025, indicating challenges in expanding their user base. The integration of advanced AI features positions the Pixel 10 series as a direct competitor to Apple's upcoming iPhone, which has faced challenges in implementing robust AI functionalities.
