Kiki Wolfkill, a longtime Microsoft and Xbox executive who helped lead the Halo franchise’s expansion beyond games and into film and television, has left Microsoft after roughly 28 years, according to her LinkedIn announcement as reported by gaming outlets including GameSpot. Wolfkill was one of Xbox’s most visible leaders on transmedia efforts and served as an executive producer on the Halo TV series.

According to GameSpot’s report of Wolfkill’s LinkedIn post, April 17, 2026, was her last day at Microsoft. She did not disclose her next role or project, but said in the post: “I have so many learnings to carry forward and more impact to be made and I couldn't be more inspired to climb the next mountain!”

Wolfkill joined Microsoft Game Studios in 1998, beginning a career that spanned nearly three decades. She moved to 343 Industries in 2008 and went on to hold senior roles connected to Halo, Microsoft’s flagship sci-fi game franchise. Her work included serving as an executive producer on Halo 4, before later taking on broader responsibilities tied to the brand’s expansion outside games.

Over time, Wolfkill became a key figure in Xbox’s efforts to turn its gaming properties into entertainment franchises that could reach audiences on screens beyond consoles. By February 2024, Xbox Wire identified her as Xbox’s head of IP expansion and entertainment, reflecting her role in adapting and extending Microsoft-owned game series into television and other media.

That work made her especially closely associated with Halo’s push into live-action TV. Wolfkill was an executive producer on the Halo television series, one of the highest-profile attempts to adapt an Xbox franchise for a mainstream streaming audience. The show premiered in 2022, with its second season airing in early 2024.

Her departure is notable partly because of that crossover role between game development leadership and entertainment production. While many executives are known mainly for overseeing game studios or publishing operations, Wolfkill was closely tied to efforts to broaden Halo into a wider media property, making her exit relevant beyond traditional games industry news.

The timing also comes after an unsettled stretch for the Halo adaptation itself. Paramount+ canceled the series in July 2024 after two seasons, and the producers said at the time that they would seek another home for the show. No Microsoft or Xbox corporate press release or public company statement about Wolfkill’s departure was identified in the source material; the reports were based on Wolfkill’s own LinkedIn post as cited by outlets.

Wolfkill has not publicly said where she is headed next. In the same LinkedIn post, as quoted by TweakTown, she wrote: “More to come on that front.”
