Apple deepens Broadcom tie with multiyear chip pact, $1.5 billion Fort Collins expansion
Apple said Wednesday it is deepening its supplier relationship with Broadcom in a new multiyear commitment that it expects to exceed $30 billion, lead to the production of more than 15 billion chips in the United States and drive a $1.5 billion expansion of Broadcom’s manufacturing facilities in Fort Collins, Colorado. Apple said Broadcom will design and produce custom silicon components and wireless connectivity technologies for Apple products under the agreement.
Broadcom separately confirmed the expanded collaboration in a Form 8-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on July 6, saying the companies are extending their long-running technology relationship through 2031. In that filing, Broadcom said it and Apple had entered “new multi-year long-term agreements” for Broadcom to develop and supply a range of custom ASIC silicon products for multiple generations of Apple devices. The investor filing did not disclose the dollar value, chip volumes or capital spending figures that Apple publicized in its July 8 announcement.
Apple said the manufacturing work will center on Fort Collins, where Broadcom will expand and modernize its facilities. The company said Broadcom will produce advanced radio frequency components there, including FBAR filters — parts used to manage wireless signals — as well as advanced wireless connectivity technologies. Apple said that effort will include a $1.5 billion capital expenditure investment in the Colorado site, a figure Broadcom did not include in its SEC filing.
The iPhone maker said the agreement will support hundreds of American jobs and called it the largest commitment to date under its American Manufacturing Program, or AMP. Apple launched the program in August 2025 as part of a broader pledge to invest $600 billion in the U.S. economy over four years, and it is increasingly using supplier announcements to show more of its chip and component supply chain being built domestically.
The new arrangement expands an existing Apple-Broadcom manufacturing tie-up. In May 2023, Apple announced a multibillion-dollar agreement with Broadcom to make 5G radio-frequency components in the United States, including in Fort Collins. The latest announcement broadens that relationship beyond 5G parts to additional custom silicon and connectivity technologies for future Apple products.
Broadcom’s SEC filing offered the most formal summary of the updated deal, saying: “Broadcom Inc. (‘Broadcom’) and Apple Inc. (‘Apple’) have agreed to expand their long-standing technology collaboration through 2031 by entering into new multi-year long-term agreements for Broadcom to develop and supply a range of custom ASIC silicon products for use in multiple generations of Apple products.”
