MLB Releases 2027 Schedule: Opening Night on Netflix, All‑Star Game at Wrigley

Major League Baseball released its 2027 regular-season schedule Thursday, putting key dates on the calendar for opening week, the All-Star break and national broadcast windows. The headline items are the league’s earliest traditional Opening Day on March 25, 2027, and a standalone Opening Night game the night before, on March 24, that will stream live on Netflix.

MLB said in its schedule-release announcement: “It is slated to begin on Wednesday, March 24, with an Opening Night game streamed live on Netflix. The matchup is to be determined.” Traditional Opening Day will follow on Thursday, March 25, with 14 games. MLB said, “That date marks the earliest traditional Opening Day in Major League history (excluding special season-openers and international openers).” The first full slate of the season is scheduled for Saturday, March 27. Netflix’s role fits MLB’s existing marquee-event streaming arrangement; Netflix press materials have said the service will carry Opening Night and the Home Run Derby from 2026 through 2028.

The 2027 All-Star festivities will center on Chicago. The T-Mobile Home Run Derby is scheduled for Monday, July 12, and MLB said it will stream exclusively on Netflix. The 97th MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard will be played the next night, Tuesday, July 13, at Wrigley Field and will air on FOX. MLB said Wrigley will become the only active stadium and only the third in history to host the All-Star Game four times. The previous editions at the Cubs’ ballpark were in 1947, 1962 and 1990.

The second half of the season begins Thursday, July 15. MLB said that week will open with a standalone game on ESPN that launches the league’s third annual Rivalry Weekend. The schedule includes 11 interleague rivalry series and four other regional showdowns during that weekend, according to MLB. The regular season is set to conclude on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2027.

MLB also said all 30 teams will be in action on several leaguewide commemorative dates: Jackie Robinson Day on April 15, Memorial Day on May 31, Lou Gehrig Day on June 2, the Fourth of July, Labor Day on Sept. 6 and Roberto Clemente Day on Sept. 15.
