Elden Ring Tarnished Pack DLC and Switch 2 Tarnished Edition Arrive Aug. 28, 2026

Bandai Namco and FromSoftware will release a small paid Elden Ring add-on called the Tarnished Pack on Aug. 28, 2026, for existing players, while launching ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 the same day, according to the companies’ official product and news pages.

The split matters: the Tarnished Edition is a Switch 2 all-in-one release, while the Tarnished Pack is separate downloadable content for players on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC via Steam. Bandai Namco and FromSoftware are presenting the Tarnished Pack as a small paid content bundle, not a new story expansion on the scale of 2024’s Shadow of the Erdtree.

Instead, the add-on focuses on starting options and cosmetics. Bandai Namco Europe said, “The Tarnished Pack includes the following game content:” two new starting classes, Heavy Knight and Idus Knight; three customization skins for Torrent, the player’s spectral mount; and four new armor sets.

Bandai Namco Europe lists “the standard price” for the Tarnished Pack at 4.99 euros. On the Japanese official site, the price is listed as 550 yen. Publisher pages say pricing may vary by region and currency. The companies first announced the Aug. 28 release in materials published June 4, 2026, and Bandai Namco Europe later reiterated that “The Tarnished Pack DLC will launch on August 28, 2026.”

For Switch 2 buyers, the Tarnished Edition bundles together the original Elden Ring base game, the major expansion Shadow of the Erdtree and the new Tarnished Pack extras in a single package. That makes it the only version of this release aimed at new players; everyone else is being offered the smaller add-on separately.

The distinction is important because Elden Ring, the 2022 action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco, already received its large-scale post-launch expansion with Shadow of the Erdtree, which arrived June 21, 2024. The Tarnished Pack does not appear to add new story areas or a comparable narrative campaign. Based on the official descriptions, it is a modest paid update centered on two starting classes, armor and mount cosmetics.

Elden Ring originally launched Feb. 25, 2022. For players returning on other platforms, the Aug. 28 release is a low-cost add-on rather than a second major expansion. For Nintendo Switch 2, it is the date the complete Tarnished Edition arrives with the base game, Shadow of the Erdtree and the new extras included.
