Final Fantasy VII Revelation Sets April 8, 2027 Release for PS5, Switch 2, Xbox and PC

Square Enix said during PlayStation’s State of Play broadcast on Thursday that Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the concluding entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, will launch April 8, 2027. The company is positioning the game as a day-one release across PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam, Epic Games Store and Xbox PC.

The date was revealed during PlayStation’s Sept. 3 State of Play presentation, giving the game a specific release date after Square Enix had previously announced only a Spring 2027 window. State of Play materials also said preorders are now live on the PlayStation Store.

PlayStation’s presentation and a Sept. 3 PlayStation Blog post attributed to Zorine Te, senior marketing manager at Square Enix, highlighted a mix of returning features from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and new systems for the finale. Those returning elements include Piko, the chocobo companion and mount, and Queen’s Blood, the in-game card minigame, which is getting new story content centered on Red XIII. Newly emphasized features included FITS, short for Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear, a job-style system with roles such as warrior, knight, black mage and summoner. The showcase also featured Highwind airship traversal with parachute drops, grappling-hook movement for vertical exploration, instant party member switching during exploration and chocobo-mounted combat.

PlayStation’s blog post also outlined the game’s digital editions. A Premium Edition includes the base game, a story expansion pass, 24-hour early access and extra items. A Premium Plus Edition adds a digital artbook, a digital mini soundtrack and additional in-game items. According to the State of Play materials, the preorder bonus includes summon materia for a mechanical chocobo and a moguri.

The exact date is new. When Square Enix first announced Final Fantasy VII Revelation at Summer Game Fest in June 2026, it said only that the game would arrive in Spring 2027. At the time, official material said it would release “simultaneously” on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and Xbox PC. That broad, same-day rollout marks a notable shift from earlier entries in the remake project, which were introduced with a more PlayStation-first release strategy.
