Meta launches Meta One, bundling paid AI tools across Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp
Meta on Tuesday formally launched Meta One, a global subscription program that bundles paid AI usage and premium features across Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Meta AI, as the company pushes further into recurring revenue beyond advertising.
In a Sept. 15 post on its Newsroom, Meta said Meta One is debuting with “more than 50 features” already rolled out across its apps and services. The company also said it has logged “15 million subscriptions and trials to-date” across these paid offers, a figure that includes trial users and not just paying subscribers. Meta said the core experience on its apps and Meta AI will remain free, with the paid tiers aimed at heavier AI use and added tools.
“We’re introducing Meta One, a new subscription service on our apps that offers higher AI usage and enhanced expression features, plus professional tools for creators and businesses,” Meta said in the announcement.
For individual users, Meta One pulls together the single-app subscriptions Meta began rolling out in May — Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus and WhatsApp Plus — into broader bundle tiers called Core and Premium. Meta said those plans include higher usage limits for compute-intensive AI features, including image creation and editing and video generation through Meta AI and the company’s Muse models, as well as in-app tools such as Instagram Restyle.
In the U.S., Meta has listed Instagram Plus at $3.99 a month, Facebook Plus at $3.99 and WhatsApp Plus at $2.99. The bundled individual plans start at $7.99 a month for Core and $19.99 for Premium. Creator and business bundles range from Essential, starting at $14.99 a month, to Max at $499 a month. Meta said prices, features and availability vary by region, app and account, and pricing published in other markets differs from the U.S. list.
Meta is also aiming the program at creators and businesses, not just everyday users. The company said those tiers include tools such as an enhanced profile, a more prominent Follow button on Reels, automatic follow invites to people who engage with content and expanded access to Meta Business Agent for around-the-clock customer responses. The business-focused plans are organized into Essential, Advanced, Expert and Max tiers.
The launch turns a set of app-by-app subscriptions into a broader, more explicit paid ecosystem under one brand. That matters because Meta has been telling investors it wants to build revenue streams beyond its ad business, particularly as it spends heavily on AI infrastructure.
In its second-quarter 2026 earnings materials and call, Meta pointed to subscriptions and AI monetization as additional revenue sources, and said early sales and engagement around the strategy had been encouraging. On that earnings call, the company described the new push this way: “Meta One is an evolution of our subscription portfolio to create more value for everyday users, businesses and creators, so they get more features and AI tools to create, connect and stand out.”
The structure also places Meta more directly alongside other large tech companies that charge for advanced AI features while keeping basic services free. Rather than paywalling Instagram, Facebook or WhatsApp outright, Meta is packaging higher AI limits, creative tools and professional features into recurring plans.
Meta said it plans to expand Meta One over time to Edits, its video editing app, AI glasses and other products. The company said Edits Plus will be integrated later with more cloud storage and additional use of an assistant for Instagram insights and idea generation.
For now, the message from Meta is that the baseline social apps and Meta AI will remain free, while users, creators and businesses that want heavier AI usage and added professional tools will increasingly find those features inside paid tiers.
