Google Expands AI Agent CC into Shared Family Assistant

Google is expanding its experimental AI agent CC from a tool for individuals into a shared household assistant, saying the new version can help up to six family members organize schedules, track tasks and handle everyday logistics.

In a blog post published Thursday, Tom Shane, a senior product manager at Google Labs, said the new CC is designed to help families manage busy household schedules and admin. According to Google, the agent can deliver a shared morning “Your Day Ahead” brief, gather important dates and to-dos into a family calendar or task list, and automatically add calendar events. Google also said CC can help with household paperwork and planning, including permission slips, registration PDFs, school supply lists and meal plans, while asking for missing details when needed.

Google said CC can also take action on a user’s behalf, including filling out forms, but only with permission. The company said each CC runs on an isolated cloud computer powered by Google’s Antigravity agent platform and the latest Gemini models. Google gave examples such as pre-filling PDFs, checking live drive times through Maps APIs and creating Docs or Sheets.

Google emphasized that the family version includes controls around who it can interact with and what it can see. The company said users can invite up to six members to share information with a group CC, and that each member can choose what to share and change those settings at any time. “CC now has its own verified Google Account: This is how CC will show up when it interacts with the group. It only responds to group members, and will not take action or share information outside the group without your permission,” Shane wrote. He added that “CC only sees what each member chooses to share, such as emails from your child’s school, the local swim center, or the vet.”

Google said the agent also uses a shared memory system that separates group-level information, such as a grocery list or favorite restaurants, from individual preferences, including dietary needs or time zones.

The product is launching as an early Google Labs experiment on the web and mobile devices for people 18 and older in the U.S. who have a personal Google account, according to Google. Existing users will receive an email in the coming days with instructions to upgrade, while new users can join a waitlist.

The family rollout builds on an earlier version of CC that Google introduced on Dec. 16, 2025, as a Labs productivity agent for individuals. In May 2026, Google said it had brought that work into the Gemini app as Daily Brief.

The launch marks Google’s latest move toward consumer AI agents designed not just to answer prompts, but to organize personal information and complete tasks on a user’s behalf.
