Coachella 2025: A Celebration of Musical Diversity and Global Influences
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is currently underway, spanning two consecutive weekends—April 11–13 and April 18–20, 2025—at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. This 24th edition of the festival features a diverse lineup of artists across various genres, with headliners Lady Gaga, Green Day, Post Malone, and Travis Scott.
Lady Gaga, returning as a headliner after her 2017 performance, is set to perform on both Fridays. Green Day will make their Coachella debut on both Saturdays, while Post Malone will headline both Sundays. Travis Scott is scheduled for a special performance slot, marking his return to the festival. Other notable performers include Missy Elliott, Charli XCX, Megan Thee Stallion, and solo performances by BLACKPINK members Lisa and Jennie. Additionally, South Korean boy band ENHYPEN is making their Coachella debut.
The festival continues to showcase a diverse array of musical genres, including rock, pop, hip-hop, electronic, and indie. Live streaming of performances is available on Coachella's official YouTube channel, covering seven of the eight stages: Main Stage, Sahara, Outdoor Theatre, Yuma, Gobi, Mojave, and Quasar. The Sonora stage will not be streamed.
Coachella has long been a trendsetter in music and fashion, often introducing emerging artists to a broader audience and influencing fashion trends. The inclusion of K-pop artists like Lisa, Jennie, and ENHYPEN reflects the growing global influence of Korean pop music. Additionally, the festival's diverse lineup showcases a commitment to representing various musical genres and cultures.
Historically, Coachella has had a significant economic impact on the local region. A 2012 study estimated that the festival brought $254.4 million to the desert region, with Indio receiving $89.2 million in consumer spending and $1.4 million in tax revenue. While specific figures for 2025 are not yet available, the festival continues to be a major economic driver for the area.
Notable moments from this year's festival include Charli XCX's tribute to Rosalía during her performance, sparking speculation about a possible new release from Rosalía. Additionally, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, made history as the first classical orchestra to perform at Coachella, highlighting the festival's expanding musical diversity.
As Coachella 2025 unfolds, it continues to solidify its position as a premier music and arts festival, blending established acts with emerging talents and reflecting the evolving landscape of the global music scene.
