Cam Little Sets NFL Record with 68-Yard Field Goal as Jaguars Triumph in Overtime

In a Week 9 filled with remarkable performances, Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Cam Little set a new NFL record by successfully converting a 68-yard field goal during the first half against the Las Vegas Raiders. This historic kick surpassed the previous record of 66 yards, held by Justin Tucker since 2021.

Little's record-breaking field goal occurred as time expired in the first half, reducing the Raiders' lead to 6-3. The 22-year-old kicker, drafted in the sixth round from Arkansas in 2024, had previously demonstrated his range with a 70-yard field goal during a preseason game earlier this year. However, that kick did not count toward official records.

"Cam Little's 68-yard field goal is a testament to his dedication and skill. It's a moment that will be remembered in NFL history," said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

The game concluded dramatically, with the Jaguars securing a 30-29 overtime victory. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence led the team with 220 passing yards and two rushing touchdowns, including the game-winner in overtime. The Jaguars' defense sealed the win when lineman DaVon Hamilton deflected a potential game-winning two-point conversion attempt by the Raiders.

For the Raiders, tight end Brock Bowers made a significant impact with nine receptions for 127 yards and three touchdowns in his return from injury. Quarterback Geno Smith contributed 284 passing yards and four touchdowns, tying his career high.

In another standout performance, Christian McCaffrey led the San Francisco 49ers to a 34-24 victory over the New York Giants. McCaffrey amassed 173 total yards, including 106 rushing and 67 receiving yards, and scored two touchdowns. He set a new NFL record with his 16th game featuring both a rushing and receiving touchdown, surpassing Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk.

Quarterback Mac Jones, stepping in for Brock Purdy, completed 19 of 24 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns, guiding the 49ers to a 6-3 record. Kicker Eddy Pineiro remained perfect on the season, and Brian Robinson Jr. added a late rushing touchdown. For the Giants, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart threw for 191 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for one score, though the team fell to 2-7 after their third consecutive loss.

Additionally, the Minnesota Vikings secured a 27-24 victory over the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. Quarterback JJ McCarthy returned from a five-game absence due to an ankle injury, completing 14 of 25 passes for 143 yards, throwing two touchdowns, and rushing for another. His return revitalized the Vikings' offense, reconnecting effectively with receivers Justin Jefferson and TJ Hockenson. A pivotal moment in the game was a blocked field goal attempt by Levi Drake Rodríguez, which Isaiah Rodgers returned 33 yards, setting up a 20-yard field goal by Will Reichard. For the Lions, quarterback Jared Goff completed 25 of 37 passes for 284 yards and two touchdowns, with notable performances from Sam LaPorta and Amon-Ra St. Brown, each recording 97 receiving yards.

These games, among others in Week 9, showcased significant individual achievements and pivotal moments that are shaping the trajectory of the 2025 NFL season.
