The San Antonio Spurs are headed back to the NBA Finals after winning a Game 7 on the road.

San Antonio beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 111-103 on Saturday night at Paycom Center to win the Western Conference finals and clinch the series 4-3. The Spurs advanced to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014, where they will face the New York Knicks. The victory also ended the defending champion Thunder’s bid for another title.

Victor Wembanyama led the Spurs with 22 points, seven rebounds and two assists, while making three 3-pointers in the biggest game of San Antonio’s season. Julian Champagnie gave the Spurs another major lift with 20 points, six rebounds and six 3-pointers. For Oklahoma City, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 35 points, four rebounds and nine assists, but the Thunder could not do enough late to extend their season.

San Antonio got key support across the lineup in the winner-take-all game. Stephon Castle had 16 points, six rebounds and six assists, De’Aaron Fox added 15 points and five assists, and Devin Vassell finished with 11 points and six rebounds. The game remained tight into the closing stretch, but the Spurs held off Oklahoma City down the stretch to close out the series on the road.

The result is a significant milestone for San Antonio, which had not reached the Finals since 2014 and is now returning behind Wembanyama in his first NBA Finals appearance. Oklahoma City, meanwhile, fell one win short of another trip to the league’s championship round.

The NBA Finals are scheduled to begin Wednesday, June 3.
