Samsung Unveils the Ultra-Slim Galaxy S25 Edge

Published:

Samsung is poised to introduce the Galaxy S25 Edge, its thinnest smartphone to date, measuring just 5.84mm in thickness. The official unveiling is scheduled for May 13, 2025, with a global release expected on May 30, 2025.

The Galaxy S25 Edge features a 6.66-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth visuals. The screen resolution stands at 1080x2400 pixels, providing a pixel density of approximately 395 ppi. Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, coupled with 12GB of RAM, and runs on Samsung's One UI 7, based on Android 15.

The camera system includes a 200MP main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and phase detection autofocus (PDAF), and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. The front-facing camera is a 10MP sensor capable of recording 4K videos at 30/60fps. Due to its slim design, the Galaxy S25 Edge houses a 3,900mAh battery, supporting 25W wired charging.

Storage options include 256GB and 512GB variants. In Europe, the 256GB model is priced between €1,200 and €1,300, while the 512GB variant ranges from €1,300 to €1,400. These prices position the Galaxy S25 Edge between the S25 Plus and S25 Ultra models. The device will be available in three color options: Titanium Icyblue, Titanium Silver, and Titanium Jetblack.

Samsung plans to manufacture an initial batch of 40,000 units, indicating limited availability at launch. This suggests the Galaxy S25 Edge may only be available in select markets initially.

The Galaxy S25 Edge's ultra-slim design aligns with a broader industry trend toward thinner smartphones. For instance, Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be 5.4mm thick. However, the S25 Edge's slim profile necessitates compromises, such as a smaller battery capacity and the absence of a telephoto lens.

In summary, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge represents a significant step in smartphone design, emphasizing slimness and premium materials. Its upcoming release is poised to influence market trends and consumer preferences in the high-end smartphone segment.
