Samsung Unveils Next-Gen Foldables at Galaxy Unpacked 2025

Samsung Electronics is set to host its third Galaxy Unpacked event of 2025 on July 9 in Brooklyn, New York. The event, scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. ET, will be streamed live on Samsung's official channels, including Samsung.com, Samsung Newsroom, and Samsung's YouTube channel.

The highlight of the event is expected to be the unveiling of Samsung's latest foldable smartphones: the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. These devices are anticipated to showcase significant advancements in design, performance, and artificial intelligence integration.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is rumored to feature an 8-inch inner display and a 6.5-inch cover screen, both utilizing Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology with a 120Hz refresh rate. When unfolded, the device is expected to measure approximately 4.2mm in thickness, making it one of the slimmest foldables available. It is also anticipated to include a 200MP main camera sensor, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The battery capacity is expected to be 4,400mAh, supporting 25W fast charging.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to feature a 6.85-inch main display and a significantly larger 4-inch cover screen. Depending on the region, it may be equipped with either the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy or the Exynos 2500 chipset, with up to 12GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB or 512GB. The camera setup is anticipated to include a 50MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP front camera. The device is expected to house a 4,300mAh battery.

In addition to the foldable smartphones, Samsung is likely to introduce the Galaxy Watch 8 series, which may include models such as the Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and a premium Galaxy Watch Ultra. These wearables are expected to feature enhanced health tracking capabilities, potentially including blood glucose monitoring, and new design elements such as a square design and MicroLED screen.

A significant theme of the event is the integration of artificial intelligence into Samsung's devices under the "Galaxy AI" brand. Samsung aims to transform smartphones into smart companions that understand user intent and respond in real time, moving from reaction to anticipation.

This Galaxy Unpacked event marks Samsung's third major showcase in 2025, following the introduction of the Galaxy S25 series in January and the Galaxy S25 Edge in May. The July event continues Samsung's tradition of unveiling flagship smartphones, wearables, and other Galaxy devices, along with updates to the SmartThings ecosystem.

While official pricing has not been confirmed, leaks suggest that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will start at $1,099 and the Z Fold 7 at $1,899, similar to their predecessors in most markets. However, potential tariffs on imported smartphones could impact pricing in certain regions, including the U.S.

The integration of advanced AI capabilities into Samsung's devices reflects a broader trend in the tech industry towards more intuitive and responsive user experiences. This shift has the potential to redefine user interactions with technology, emphasizing anticipation over reaction. Additionally, the introduction of more affordable foldable devices, such as the rumored Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, could democratize access to cutting-edge technology, making it accessible to a broader audience.

As the event approaches, consumers and industry analysts alike are eager to see how Samsung's latest innovations will shape the future of mobile technology.
