Comcast Launches 'World Soccer Ticket' for Xfinity Customers

Comcast has introduced "World Soccer Ticket," a comprehensive video package designed exclusively for Xfinity customers, offering access to over 1,500 matches from premier global soccer leagues and tournaments. Priced at $85 per month, this package aims to consolidate soccer content, providing fans with a centralized platform to follow their favorite teams and competitions.

The "World Soccer Ticket" includes nearly 60 broadcast, cable news, and sports channels, encompassing both English and Spanish-language networks. Subscribers also receive a premium subscription to NBCUniversal's Peacock streaming service, which offers additional soccer content and other entertainment options. Advanced viewing features such as Xfinity Multiview allow viewers to watch multiple games simultaneously, select matches are available in 4K resolution, and the Sports Zone app provides real-time statistics, scores, and betting odds. Access is available through Xfinity's X1 set-top box and the Xfinity Stream app on supported platforms, including Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku, and mobile devices.

Jon Gieselman, Chief Growth Officer for Connectivity & Platforms at Comcast, highlighted the package's user-friendly design: "We did the work for our customers and pulled together the most coveted leagues and tournaments... and put them in one place." (corporate.comcast.com)

The launch of "World Soccer Ticket" is strategically timed ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This initiative aims to attract soccer enthusiasts and capitalize on the growing popularity of the sport in North America.

Comcast's introduction of this soccer-focused package reflects a broader industry trend where media companies are enhancing their streaming platforms through major sports broadcasting deals. Live sports content remains a significant draw for audiences, helping to mitigate the impact of cord-cutting on traditional TV revenue.

In addition to the "World Soccer Ticket," Comcast has been expanding its sports portfolio. In July 2024, the company announced an 11-year agreement with the NBA, bringing the league back to NBC Sports starting with the 2025โ€“26 season. This deal includes broadcasting 100 regular-season games per season, as well as playoff games and the NBA All-Star events. (forbes.com)

Furthermore, in March 2025, Comcast and the International Olympic Committee announced a $3 billion deal to extend their broadcasting arrangement, granting Comcast the media rights for the Olympics through 2036. This partnership aims to enhance the viewing experience for fans in the United States by leveraging Comcast's media and technology capabilities. (cnbc.com)

The introduction of "World Soccer Ticket" and these strategic partnerships underscore Comcast's commitment to delivering comprehensive sports content to its subscribers. By consolidating access to major soccer events and expanding its sports broadcasting rights, Comcast aims to enhance the viewing experience for sports fans and strengthen its position in the competitive media landscape.
