Harry Kane hat-trick hands Bayern 3-0 DFB-Pokal win over Stuttgart, seals 21st cup and domestic double
Harry Kane scored a second-half hat trick as Bayern Munich beat VfB Stuttgart 3-0 in the DFB-Pokal final on Saturday, sealing the club’s record-extending 21st German Cup title and completing a domestic double after its Bundesliga triumph.
In front of a sold-out crowd of 74,036 at Berlin’s Olympiastadion, the final was scoreless at halftime before Bayern’s England captain took over. Kane broke the deadlock in the 55th minute, added a second in the 80th and completed his hat trick from the penalty spot in stoppage time, according to the German Football Association’s match report.
The opener came from a quickly taken free kick, with Michael Olise crossing for Kane to head in. His second was a striker’s finish, receiving the ball with his back to goal, turning and driving it into the bottom corner. The third arrived in the 90+2nd minute after Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller was penalized for handball from a cross, and Kane converted the penalty to make sure of the result.
The victory added another chapter to Bayern’s dominance of Germany’s main domestic cup competition. It was the club’s 21st DFB-Pokal title, extending its own record, and it also completed a league-and-cup double for the 2025-26 season. Multiple match reports said Kane became only the fourth player to score a hat trick in a DFB-Pokal final, joining Uwe Seeler in 1963, Roland Wohlfarth in 1986 and Robert Lewandowski in 2012.
Kane said Bayern’s patience had been decisive after a goalless first half. “We needed patience, and we knew they would tire,” he told Bundesliga.com. He added: “Scoring a hat-trick in a final is something I’m extremely proud of.”
Bayern coach Vincent Kompany and midfielder Leon Goretzka both pointed to Kane as the difference in the game. “That was a top performance from him. There aren’t many like him, he’s special,” Kompany told Bundesliga.com. Goretzka was even more direct: “Harry won us the final.”
Kane, who joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2023, has become central to the club’s title-winning success, and this latest display came at a notable moment in the calendar. England’s captain now heads to international duty before the 2026 World Cup, which begins June 11.
