Olise Sets Up and Scores as Bayern Beat Dortmund 2-1 to Win 2026 Franz Beckenbauer Supercup
Bayern Munich beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday to win the 2026 Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, with Michael Olise deciding the season-opening showpiece by setting up the first goal and scoring the second in a commanding first-half display.
Nathaniel Brown opened the scoring in the 28th minute on his first competitive start for Bayern, finishing from an Olise assist. Olise then doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time, scoring in the 45th minute plus one. Dortmund pulled one back in the 75th through Fabio Silva, whose effort was described in the Bundesliga report as taking a deflection off Bayern defender Alphonso Davies, but the hosts could not find an equalizer as Bayern secured a 12th Supercup title.
In front of a sold-out crowd in Dortmund, Bayern controlled possession and pressed from the start, with Olise repeatedly threatening down the right side. The early balance of play was reflected in the expected-goals numbers: Bayern led 1.73 to 0.15 by halftime, according to the Bundesliga’s match report.
Brown’s opener capped Bayern’s early dominance and underlined an encouraging debut in the starting lineup. Olise remained the game’s sharpest attacking player and got his reward just before the break, giving Bayern a 2-0 cushion that matched the flow of the first half. He finished with one goal and one assist and was named Player of the Match.
Dortmund improved after halftime and made a game of it once Silva reduced the deficit with 15 minutes left. The home side carried more threat in the second half than it had before the interval, but Bayern still finished with the stronger overall chance quality, 2.35 expected goals to Dortmund’s 1.11.
Any late Dortmund push was further complicated in the 90th minute, when defender Ramy Bensebaini was shown a straight red card for a late challenge on Bayern midfielder Ismael Saibari.
The Supercup is Germany’s traditional curtain-raiser, contested by the previous season’s Bundesliga champion and DFB-Pokal winner. Because Bayern completed the domestic double in 2025-26, Bundesliga runner-up Dortmund took the second spot. This year’s edition was played under the competition’s new name, the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, and delivered another high-profile installment of Der Klassiker to open the German season.
