Knicks One Win From NBA Finals After 121-108 Victory in Cleveland
The New York Knicks moved within one win of their first NBA Finals appearance since 1999 on Saturday night, beating the Cleveland Cavaliers 121-108 in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals at Rocket Arena in Cleveland. The road victory gave New York a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series and put Cleveland on the brink of elimination.
Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 30 points, while Mikal Bridges added 22 on 11-for-15 shooting from the field. Bridges also had three steals and two blocks. OG Anunoby scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds as New York continued its efficient postseason play. The Knicks finished 43 for 77 from the field, good for 56%, while going 11 for 28 from 3-point range and 24 for 27 from the free-throw line.
New York’s offense kept pressure on Cleveland throughout, and Landry Shamet helped seal it in the fourth quarter. Shamet hit three 3-pointers in a 99-second span, giving the Knicks the late burst they needed to put the game away. The victory was at least New York’s 10th straight of this postseason run.
Cleveland got 23 points from Donovan Mitchell and 21 from James Harden, but the Cavaliers could not match New York’s shooting efficiency. Cleveland went 12 for 41 from beyond the arc and now must win four straight games to keep its season alive.
Game 4 is scheduled for Monday, May 25, in Cleveland, where the Knicks will try to clinch the Eastern Conference title and reach the NBA Finals for the first time in 27 years.
