UBS Strengthens M&A Team with Key Appointment from Barclays
UBS Group AG has appointed Kelvin Quezada as Managing Director within its Unified Global Banking (UGB) Americas team, based in New York. Quezada joins UBS after a 17-year tenure at Barclays, where he most recently served as Managing Director in the Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) division and previously worked in the financial sponsor coverage group. Known for his expertise in executing exclusive sales and tailored transactions, Quezada will collaborate with UBS’s coverage, M&A, industry teams, and financial advisors to support clients with global wealth management connections. This strategic hire is part of UBS's broader initiative to enhance its M&A and financial sponsor capabilities.
This appointment is part of UBS's broader initiative to enhance its M&A and financial sponsor capabilities. In April 2023, UBS hired three senior executives from Barclays:
-
Marco Valla: Appointed as co-head of global banking alongside Javier Oficialdegui. Valla was previously the global head of Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) and consumer retail at Barclays.
-
Jeff Hinton: Joined the global banking team; formerly co-head of Americas M&A at Barclays.
-
Kurt Anthony: Also joined the global banking team; previously a managing director in the consumer retail group at Barclays.
In May 2023, UBS further expanded its team by hiring seven TMT bankers from Barclays, including:
-
Laurence Braham: Global chair of investment banking for technology at Barclays.
-
Richard Hardegree: Vice chair and head of technology M&A at Barclays.
-
Richard Casavechia: Global chair of banking at Barclays.
-
Ozzie Ramos: Vice chair and head of communications, cable, and satellite at Barclays.
-
Jason Williams, Neil Meyer, and Ken Tittle: Managing directors in the investment banking group at Barclays.
The addition of Kelvin Quezada to UBS's UGB Americas team underscores the bank's commitment to strengthening its M&A and financial sponsor capabilities. Quezada's extensive experience in executing exclusive sales and tailored transactions is expected to enhance UBS's ability to offer specialized advisory services to clients with global wealth management connections.
By integrating seasoned professionals from competitors, UBS aims to solidify its presence in the U.S. investment banking sector, particularly in M&A advisory services. This strategic direction reflects the bank's ambition to enhance its global banking footprint and better serve clients with comprehensive financial solutions.
