Aekloveya Shyam Appointed to Lead Goldman Sachs' Global Real Estate M&A

Goldman Sachs has appointed Aekloveya Shyam as the new head of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) within its Global Real Estate Group, according to an internal memo obtained by Reuters. Shyam, who joined the firm in 2011 as an associate and was promoted to managing director in 2019, previously served in the Healthcare Group within Investment Banking. In that role, he participated in several multi-billion dollar transactions across the United States, Europe, and Asia. In his new position, Shyam will oversee strategic transactions and advisory services, reporting directly to Mike Graziano and Andy Jonas, co-heads of the Global Real Estate Group. A Goldman Sachs spokesperson confirmed the content of the memo.

This appointment comes as Goldman Sachs continues to enhance its capabilities in private credit, private equity, and other asset classes. In January 2025, the firm announced the creation of the Capital Solutions Group, a division aimed at better serving corporate and investor clients by combining financing, origination, structuring, and risk management activities within its Global Banking & Markets unit. CEO David Solomon highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating, "Our strategy and core franchise strengths position Goldman Sachs to operate at the fulcrum of one of the most important structural trends taking place in finance: the emergence and growth of private credit and other asset classes that can be privately deployed." The real estate sector has been experiencing significant transformations, with increased investor interest in private real estate equity and credit. Goldman Sachs Asset Management has invested over $60 billion in private real estate equity and credit, leveraging a team of more than 300 professionals with over 30 years of experience in the field. Shyam's appointment is expected to bolster Goldman Sachs' position in the real estate M&A market, enabling the firm to provide more comprehensive advisory services to clients navigating the complexities of the current real estate environment.

As of June 24, 2025, Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (GS) shares were trading at $663.44, reflecting a change of $16.56 (0.0256%) from the previous close. The intraday high reached $663.58, with a low of $649.95. The latest open price was $654.45, and the intraday volume stood at 1,066,504 shares.

Shyam's extensive experience in handling complex, high-value deals positions him well for his new role in the Global Real Estate Group. His leadership is anticipated to strengthen Goldman Sachs' position in the real estate M&A market, enabling the firm to provide more comprehensive advisory services to clients navigating the complexities of the current real estate environment.
