Tifa Lockhart Confirmed for Street Fighter 6 in Capcom’s Year 4 DLC Lineup

·

Capcom used Summer Game Fest on Friday to officially confirm that Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII is coming to Street Fighter 6 as part of the fighting game’s Year 4 downloadable-content roster. Tifa had been widely rumored ahead of the show, but the Summer Game Fest reveal marked the first official confirmation from Capcom.

Capcom announced four new fighters for Year 4: Yasmine, Arjun, Bosch and Tifa Lockhart. According to press coverage citing an official Street Fighter 6 social media post, Yasmine is scheduled to arrive Aug. 3, 2026, followed by Arjun in autumn 2026, Tifa in early 2027 and Bosch in spring 2027. The rollout stretches the game’s next character wave well into next year.

After the trailer, Naoki Hamaguchi, a key creative on the Final Fantasy VII side, and Street Fighter 6 director Takayuki Nakayama appeared onstage to discuss the crossover. Hamaguchi said the teams had worked in a recognizable element from Square Enix’s role-playing series, even if they were not ready to show it yet. “We cannot show it today, but we adapted an iconic Final Fantasy element to the battle experience,” Hamaguchi said during the presentation. Nakayama added, “We hope you all look forward to what’s coming next.”

Tifa’s addition stands out even in a game that has already used guest fighters. She is one of the best-known characters from Final Fantasy VII, making this a crossover between Capcom’s flagship fighting series and one of Square Enix’s biggest role-playing franchises, rather than a more typical fighting-game guest appearance. Street Fighter 6 previously brought in Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui from SNK, but Tifa represents a different kind of crossover. Her appearance had circulated in pre-show chatter for some time, though Capcom had not publicly confirmed it until Friday’s event.

The announcement also reinforces Capcom’s long-term support plan for Street Fighter 6, which launched in 2023 and has continued to receive yearly waves of downloadable fighters. Year 4 now gives players a clear roadmap from this summer through spring 2027, with Tifa positioned as the headline addition in the middle of that schedule. For Capcom, the Summer Game Fest reveal served both as the next step in the game’s post-launch cadence and as a high-profile crossover moment aimed well beyond the usual fighting-game audience.
