Circle mints two 250M USDC batches on Solana, treasury issuance totals ~$500M

·

Whale Alert flagged a fresh 250 million USDC mint at Circle’s treasury late Tuesday, posting to Telegram at 23:29: “250,000,000 $USDC (250,063,748 USD) minted at USDC Treasury.” Independent crypto outlets SatoshiPick and DigitalCoinJournal reported earlier on Sept. 1 that Circle’s USDC Treasury had minted two separate 250,000,000 USDC batches on Solana that day, bringing the daily total to roughly $500 million.

The activity drew attention because USDC is a dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by Circle, and large stablecoin mints can matter for market liquidity. Traders often monitor them as a possible precursor to exchange funding, trading collateral, settlements or decentralized finance activity. But the mint itself is only the first step; the more important market signal is whether the tokens later move out of treasury and into active use.

That distinction is central here. Whale Alert’s transaction pages identify the events as Solana-token mints to an account labeled “USDC Treasury,” meaning the issuance is visible on-chain. Circle says “USDC is a fully reserved stablecoin” and that “The process of issuing new USDC is known as ‘minting’ as new digital dollars are created and put into circulation.” At the same time, Circle’s public materials distinguish between treasury or pre-minting activity and tokens that are actually released into circulation. An on-chain treasury mint alone does not show which customer, if any, funded the issuance off-chain, or whether the tokens were then sent to exchanges, over-the-counter trading desks or DeFi venues.

In scale terms, the reported $500 million total is notable but not unusual for USDC, which public dashboards and Circle materials placed at roughly $70 billion to $74 billion in circulation in late August 2026. Repeated 250 million USDC treasury mints have also appeared through 2025 and 2026 on Solana and other blockchains, making the batch size a recurring operational pattern rather than a one-off event.

For markets, the takeaway is restrained: the mint confirms new USDC was issued to treasury on-chain, but its significance will depend on whether those tokens later move out to exchanges or other counterparties.
