Harry Kane signs two-year contract extension with Bayern Munich through 2029
Harry Kane has signed a two-year contract extension with Bayern Munich that will keep the England captain at the German club through June 30, 2029, according to a Bundesliga.com report published Thursday. The agreement removes uncertainty over the future of the reigning men’s Ballon d’Or winner less than two weeks after he claimed the sport’s top individual prize on Oct. 26.
Kane’s previous Bayern deal had been due to expire on June 30, 2027, meaning the 33-year-old was entering the final year of that contract. The extension represents a significant long-term commitment from both Bayern and the striker, who joined from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2023 and has since become the club’s central attacking figure.
“I feel right at home at FC Bayern. I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich. We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager. It makes me very proud to be part of this club,” Kane said, according to Bundesliga.com.
The Bundesliga report said Kane has scored 156 goals in 161 competitive appearances since arriving in Munich in 2023, an extraordinary return that has underpinned Bayern’s attack. It added that he has 10 goals and eight assists in 14 appearances in all competitions so far this season, and that he reached 100 Bundesliga goals in September.
The extension also gives Bayern added continuity around one of the game’s most prominent players at a time when the club is emphasizing stability and long-term planning. Max Eberl, Bayern’s board member for sport, said in the Bundesliga.com report: “This key contract extension gives us certainty in our planning. It sends a message that the biggest goals are within reach at FC Bayern. Players like Harry Kane offer a team unique opportunities.”
