Google has announced the integration of its advanced AI assistant, Gemini, into Google Maps, aiming to enhance user experience through hands-free interactions and improved navigation features. The update also introduces landmark-based navigation, where directions reference visible landmarks instead of just distances. For instance, instead of instructing users to "turn right in 500 feet," the app might say, "turn right after the Thai Siam Restaurant," with the landmark highlighted on the map. This feature leverages Google's extensive database of over 250 million places and Street View imagery to ensure accuracy.
