Inter Miami and Vancouver Whitecaps Set for Historic MLS Cup Final
Inter Miami CF is set to host the Vancouver Whitecaps in the 2025 MLS Cup Final on Saturday, December 6, at 2:30 p.m. ET at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This marks the first MLS Cup Final appearance for both clubs, setting the stage for a historic showdown.
Inter Miami secured their spot in the final with a commanding 5-1 victory over New York City FC in the Eastern Conference Final on November 29. Midfielder Tadeo Allende led the charge with a hat trick, bringing his playoff goal tally to eight and tying the league record set by Carlos Ruiz in 2002. Captain Lionel Messi contributed his seventh assist of the postseason, setting a new MLS record for combined goals and assists in a single playoff run. Defender Jordi Alba also played a pivotal role, providing three assists during the match.
On the other side, the Vancouver Whitecaps earned their place in the final by defeating San Diego FC 3-1 in the Western Conference Final. Forward Brian White was instrumental, scoring two first-half goals. Midfielders Andres Cubas and Ali Ahmed each recorded assists, with Ahmed's shot leading to an own goal by San Diego's goalkeeper. San Diego's Hirving Lozano scored in the 60th minute, but the team finished with 10 men after a red card was issued to their goalkeeper in the 79th minute.
This final will be the fourth meeting between Inter Miami and Vancouver. Earlier this year, the Whitecaps eliminated Inter Miami from the Concacaf Champions Cup semifinals with a 5-1 aggregate score. In the second leg of that series, Vancouver secured a 3-1 victory at Chase Stadium, with goals from Brian White, Pedro Vite, and Sebastian Berhalter. Inter Miami's lone goal came from Jordi Alba in the ninth minute.
The upcoming match also holds special significance as it will be the final game played at Chase Stadium. Inter Miami plans to move to the new Miami Freedom Park stadium in April 2026. The new venue is part of a 131-acre development that will include a 58-acre public park, youth athletic fields, entertainment-based retail, and other amenities. Co-owner David Beckham expressed his excitement about the move, stating, "After years of dreaming, it is so exciting to be sharing that in 2026 Inter Miami will be moving to its long-term home at Miami Freedom Park."
Fans eager to attend the MLS Cup Final can purchase tickets through Inter Miami CF's official channels. Tickets are expected to be in high demand, given the historic nature of the match and the presence of global superstar Lionel Messi. For those unable to attend in person, the final will be broadcast on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV, as well as on FOX and FOX Deportes.
As both teams prepare for this landmark event, the 2025 MLS Cup Final promises to be a thrilling conclusion to the season, offering one club the opportunity to claim their first-ever MLS championship.
