2025 Lancet Countdown Report Highlights Alarming Health Impacts of Climate Change

The 2025 Lancet Countdown report, released on October 29, 2025, presents a comprehensive analysis of the escalating health impacts of climate change. The report indicates a 23% increase in heat-related deaths since the 1990s, averaging 546,000 deaths annually between 2012 and 2021. In 2024, wildfire smoke was associated with a record 154,000 deaths. Additionally, droughts and heatwaves contributed to an additional 124 million people facing moderate or severe food insecurity in 2023.
